Jennifer Gibsons story as to how she began her running career.

I Run For Holland – I Run For Happiness

I was sitting on my couch in July of 2013 and I just decided that I wanted to try and start running. I have knee problems and the Dr’s told me that I would never be a runner. So, I pick up the phone and I call my good friend who was a runner and proceeded to tell her that I wanted to start running. She said ” Ok, but you are going to have to stick to it”. I said ” Ok I will”. We started the Couch to 5k program on July 20th. It was about 85 degrees outside and the humidity was terrible. Since I had never being a runner, I had know idea what I was in for. I had not eaten or drunk enough that day and almost passed out a couple of times, but I made it. Since we started the program together we had made a commitment to each other that we would run The Color Run together. Michelle and I went to register for the race and it was sold out. That didn’t stop us, we continued to run and I ran my first race in December 2013. I had a mental goal in my head as far as my time and I beat that by 5 minutes. I have never felt so good as when Michelle and I crossed that finish line together that day. Going from someone that was told I would never run to doing my first 5k, I was overwhelmed with excitement. In March of 2014, I ran my second 5k and finished better than I had in my first race. Running is now a part of my daily life. I feel so much better knowing that I am living a healthy lifestyle. If you think you can’t run, I’m here to tell you with God anything is possible.
