I Run For Holland – I Run For Happiness
I picked up running a few years after I graduated college. I honestly was just looking for a way to lose some pounds. After sticking with it for about a year I signed up for my first race. It was a 10K and it was so hard! However when I was done I thought to myself “I need to get better, I want to do this again!” I would do 3-4 races a year over the next couple years.
Within that time I met my lovely wife Brooke, got married, and we also found out we were having baby Holland. Soon after finding out she would have Down syndrome I decided I wanted to not only plan this race but I wanted to run my first marathon for Holland. Training for the marathon taught me a lot about myself as a runner. I learned that with the right inspiration I could do about anything I set my mind to. I learned that running shouldn’t be a chore. It is a time to reflect, to decompress, and to enjoy the beauty all around us that God created. I run to have a happy healthy life and I run for Holland.
